Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Siran(“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to our website (siran.app), our browser extension (“Reet”), and our open-source tools.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information differently depending on which Siran product you use:
A. Reet (Browser Extension)
To provide the Reet service, we may process:
- Authentication Data: We use Firebase Auth (Google Sign-In) to identify your account. Your Google Account email and basic profile information are used solely for authentication.
- Account Metadata (Firestore): When you sign in, we store your email address, premium status, plan type, and payment identifier in Firebase Firestore. This data enables premium feature gating and account recovery. No YouTube content, playlist data, or video information is stored in Firestore.
- Local Data (Chrome Storage): The following data is stored entirely in your browser’s Chrome extension storage (
chrome.storage.local) and is never transmitted to our servers:- Playlist folders and video watch progress
- Interface settings, theme preferences, and view configurations
- Focus Mode whitelist and focus phrase
- To-Do tasks (including linked video references)
- Pomodoro timer configuration and session state
- Session snapshot (sign-in state, plan verification status)
We have no visibility into this data. Siran does not and cannot know which playlists you have imported, which videos you have watched, what tasks you have created, or which sites are on your Focus Mode whitelist. This data lives exclusively on your device and is never accessible to us.
B. Open Source Tools (Obsidian Plugins)
Our Obsidian plugins (ToDo Aggregator, Eisenhower Matrix) operate entirely locally on your device. Siran does not collect, store, or transmit any data from these plugins.
In summary:We cannot see what playlists you import, which videos you watch, what tasks you create, what sites are on your whitelist, how you configure your pomodoro timer, or your chosen theme. That data is yours alone.
3. Google User Data Access
Reet accesses limited Google user data through Google OAuth to provide its core functionality. The Google user data accessed includes:
- Google Account email address (for identification).
- YouTube data (read-only), specifically:
- User playlists
- Playlist items
- Video metadata (titles, thumbnails, durations)
Important: Reet only accesses YouTube data when you explicitly import a playlist or browse your playlist library. Reet does not access your YouTube watch history, subscriptions, likes, or search history. We cannot upload, modify, or delete any of your YouTube content.
4. How We Use Google User Data
Google user data is used strictly to:
- Authenticate your identity via Google Sign-In.
- Import and display the YouTube playlists you select.
- Track video completion and learning progress within the Reet dashboard.
- Sync playlist content from YouTube when you use the playlist refresh feature.
All YouTube data access is read-only. Google user data is never used for advertising, retargeting, profiling, or AI/ML model training.
5. Data Sharing
Reet does not share your Google user data with any third parties, advertisers, data brokers, or analytics services for user profiling. Your data is used solely to provide the Reet service directly to you.
6. Data Storage & Protection
We employ a hybrid storage model to maximize privacy:
- Chrome Extension Storage (Local):Your playlists, watch progress, settings, to-do tasks, pomodoro configuration, and focus whitelist are stored in your browser’s Chrome extension storage. This data never leaves your device, and Siran has no technical ability to access, view, or collect it.
- Firebase Firestore (Server): Account-level metadata - your email address, premium status, plan type, and payment identifier - is stored in Google Firebase Firestore for authentication and feature entitlement purposes. This is the minimum data required to verify your premium access.
- Authentication: Account authentication is handled via Google Firebase Auth’s secure infrastructure. We use Chrome Identity API with
indexedDBLocalPersistenceto avoid browser popup redirects and reCAPTCHA. - Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Firestore data is encrypted at rest by Google Cloud.
- Reet does not store YouTube playlist or video data on external servers; YouTube data is accessed in real time via Google APIs and used only to display information within the extension.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Google user data is retained only while you actively use Reet. You are in control of your data:
- Revocation: You may revoke Reet’s access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account permissions page.
- Server Data Deletion:Upon revocation of access or account deletion, your Firestore user document (containing email, premium status, and payment identifier) is removed from our systems within a reasonable timeframe. Your Chrome extension storage data remains on your device and can be cleared at any time through Chrome’s extension settings.
- Request: You may explicitly request the deletion of all your data by contacting us at getsiran.app@gmail.com.
8. Payment Information
We use Dodo Payments as our Merchant of Record. Siran does not store your credit card details. Transactions are processed securely by Dodo Payments, and their use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. The only payment-related data we store is a payment identifier used to verify your premium entitlement.
9. Contact Us
If you have questions about this policy or your data, please contact us at getsiran.app@gmail.com.
